John Bruce

As a freelance Drama Director, John has worked for all the major Independent companies, as well as the BBC, on some 120 plays, films, series and serials.

His credits as Director include The Reason of Things, and The Woman in White, both Emmy nominations; Kate, the Good Neighbour, Gold Medal for best TV Drama Film at the Commonwealth Film Festival; Miss Morison's Ghosts, Cannes Film Festival nomination;

Tales of the Unexpected; Iris in the traffic, Ruby in the rain; Faraday's Dream, winner of top four awards at International Science Film Festival; the acclaimed studio multi-camera productions of Terra Nova, and Instant Enlightenment including VAT. As well as The Moneymen, The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie, The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes, Agatha Christie's Poirot, Parnell and the Englishwoman, The Bill, and Casualty.

Having graduated from RADA, and spent his early years as an actor, he went straight from the RSC to the Single Plays Department at the BBC. He has always been a passionate believer in the actor's performance, and that has been the bedrock of all his film and television work.
